2nd Annual Grayson's Ride- Emergency Room Preparedness Project Donation
It’s hard to express in words how you really feel on days like today when your heart is happy for doing something so special to help others, but can hurt so tremendously for the reason why. I just know that deep down Grayson is so proud of everything we are doing to keep him at the forefront of our hearts.
Today we presented a check for $7,000 to the Riley Children’s Foundation for the Emergency Room Prepardness Project from our Grayson’s Ride back in August. This project is something we found to be truly beneficial to all children across the state of Indiana. A Riley PICU physician, Dr. Lutfi and his staff as well as the IU Health Lifeline staff have teamed up to present trainings to emergency rooms across the state of Indiana. These trainings help adult care physicians and their staff to better care for pediatric patients while in the ER and to know when they need to be transported by ambulance or lifeline to Riley or a larger hospital in the area.
We never want to see our child be taken to the ER, but we hope that through the Emergency Room Prepardness Project doctors will be on their toes when it comes to working with our little ones. Thus far, they have been able to complete trainings in 27 emergency rooms across the state and are currently booked up until March.
Also during their presentations they are sharing more on HUS and some of Grayson’s story to help keep doctors aware of the signs of E.coli and HUS.
We work with a very special team at Riley and we are so appreciative of their kindness when we are able to visit. Today they decorated a bit for us and had a special cake made with our foundation logo!
Brent unfortunately wasn’t able to make it last minute due to work obligations, but Aunt Erica and Braxton stepped in and joined us.
Graysie was extra excited she got to sign the check too!
